Okay, now that my mission statement has stated my blog goals and Turnaround Design’s new branding, I want to share with you my logo redesign process.
I designed my last logo with more of a vintage feel, because I initially used it for upcycling furniture and recycled card designs as well as graphic design services. When I moved logo design, branding and modern paper goods to the forefront of my business, the old logo didn’t work anymore. I needed to convey this vision more clearly with a new icon.
I decided the 3 most important elements to include in the new design were:
Modern look, since modern simplicity is a trademark of my design style
Eco (green) color, as being eco-conscious is a driving force in my business
Round graphic, to reference the Turnaround name
Here’s how I did it:
Modern: chose a modern font and simple, clean lines
Eco: carried over the bright green from the old logo, but updated it with orange
Round graphic: used 2 halves of a circle, one with a “T” in the modern font for Turnaround, and the other half to represent the “D” for Design
I then created a second version of the design, which includes the name and URL. Again, in the modern font. Adding “.com” as part of the logo made perfect sense.
The third version is my blog header (above) and shop header, with different taglines to reflect the content of each site. Keeping the branding the same across the two sites creates unification and a stronger brand identity.
When I take on any logo design or redesign project, I go about the process the same way. I’ve just added a “LOGO REFRESH“ package to my services for logos that are already in place, but need a freshening up, like mine did. It’s less than half the price of an original design. Check it out…I’d love to work with you! ::S::
